Troubleshooting

The usual snags, in the order they usually happen.

"Please sign in to use this feature"

Every service operation requires a signed-in TYO ID. Click Sign in (top right); if you keep bouncing back signed-out, allow cookies for hilia.tyo.com.au — the session lives in a cookie — and try again.

Reveal fails on an image that definitely has a payload

In order of likelihood:

  1. The image was re-compressed in transit. Inline photo sharing on chat/social platforms re-encodes images and wipes payloads. Get the file re-sent as a document/file attachment. This is the cause the overwhelming majority of the time.
  2. Wrong passcode. Passcodes are exact; check with the sender.
  3. The image was edited — resized, cropped, converted or screenshot — after hiding.
  4. It isn't a stego image. Run Probe to check.

Hide fails with a format or size error

  • Method/carrier mismatch — LSB methods need PNG or BMP; the JPEG methods need a JPEG. See Choosing a method.
  • Payload too large — check the carrier in the Capacity panel; zip the payload or use a bigger image.
  • Upload too large — very large images can exceed the upload cap; scale the carrier down (before hiding, never after).

"Out of gas"

Watermark Embed and Stamp spend 1 gas each. Your balance is in the tool header — top up, or take a membership for unlimited watermarking. The failed operation didn't spend anything; just re-run it after topping up.

Watermark not detected on a marked image

  • Confirm the key matches exactly — Detect only finds marks made with your key.
  • The image may have been processed beyond the mark's survivability (heavy crop, strong filter, tiny thumbnail). Re-embed at higher strength and test your pipeline.

Stamp doesn't show in Reveal preview

Raise the Gain. If it still doesn't appear, the stamped image was probably re-compressed or resized after stamping.

API returns 401 or 429

401 — the API key is missing, mistyped or revoked; check your keys and the header format (Authorization: Bearer … or X-Api-Key: …). 429 — the key is over its monthly quota.

Something else

The service occasionally returns a transient error under load — retry once. Still stuck? Contact us with the operation, the approximate time, and the error text.
